A Smithsonian Traveling exhibit, WaterWays arrived late in January 2017 at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center located on an island at the confluence of four rivers in Chanahan, Illinois. One requirement of hosting an exhibit from the Smithsonian is to create companion exhibits. The Four Rivers staff decided to tell two water related stories: the story of two floods and the astounding volume of plastic pollution left behind, plus stories of the some the migrating winter birds that can be seen at Four Rivers.
Working very closely with staff to edit and design the 10 panels, this project was a team effort. I created all the custom graphics, made the maps, illustrations and prepared the digital files for production. Along the way learned a LOT about the nightmarish horror of overwhelming plastic pollution.
